Our Partners in Wisconsin
We've worked with the following partners in this state to expand access to reproductive health care.
NIRH continues its partnership with the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health (WAWH) to identify and explore legislative and administrative opportunities to advance women’s health and abortion access. WAWH is advancing its Executive Blueprint, which economically empowers women and families, and promotes and protects access to the full range of reproductive health care especially for low-income people, pregnant people, and incarcerated individuals in Wisconsin, through budget, executive, and administrative action. This project involves collaboration with SiX. NIRH worked with the WAWH in 2017 to successfully coordinate with legislators and coalition partners to introduce the Respect Women Act. In 2018, NIRH again supported WAWH as they continued to build public and legislative support for the Act’s expansion and protection of abortion access. WAWH is engaging lawmakers and utilizing field and communications strategies to educate the community on the need for this legislation, laying the groundwork for success in the current legislative session and beyond. In 2017, WAWH pushed for the introduction of legislation in support of a patient’s right to receive medically accurate care, a health care professional’s right to provide medically accurate care, and clinic safety. The National Institute supported the Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health in its efforts from 2012 to 2014 to strengthen collaborations, improve voter education, and counter restrictions on access to reproductive health care.
