Our Partners in Ohio
We've worked with the following partners in this state to expand access to reproductive health care.
Current Partners
State Infrastructure Project - Ohio
NIRH works with a cohort of organizations in Ohio on a long-term proactive abortion policy and culture shift project to develop and advance an abortion rights vision, engage a new and broad base of supporters, and reduce shame and stigma by publicly promoting the affirmative value of abortion. This project includes Ohio Coalition for Reproductive Choice, Preterm Cleveland, Pro-Choice Ohio, Unite for Reproductive Gender Equity, and Women Have Options, Inc.
Pro-Choice Ohio
NIRH has worked with Pro-Choice Ohio (formerly NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio) for many years to protect abortion access on both the state and local levels. We are currently working together as part of a cohort of organizations in Ohio on a long-term initiative to develop and advance an abortion rights vision, engage a new and broad base of supporters, and reduce shame and stigma by publicly promoting the affirmative value of abortion in women's lives. In 2020, we partnered in coalition with Pro-Choice Ohio, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio, and Restoring Our Own Through Transformation (ROOTT) to advance a non-discrimination ordinance to protect people who live and work in Columbus against retaliation for any reproductive healthcare decision, including but not limited to accessing abortion care, using birth control, having a baby, or lactation needs. This initiative built on Columbus's progress toward realizing many of the policy objectives enshrined in the Local Reproductive Freedom Index. In 2009, Pro-Choice Ohio won passage of a resolution by the Columbus City Council supporting fair hearings on the Ohio Prevention First Bill and developed educational resources for the community on available reproductive health services.
