Our Partners in Missouri
We've worked with the following partners in this state to expand access to reproductive health care.
NIRH is continuing to work with NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri to promote proactive reproductive health policy at the local level in Columbia, Kansas City, and St. Louis, including policies to protect clinics, increase access to menstrual products for vulnerable communities, create comprehensive policies to support pregnant and postpartum individuals who are incarcerated, establish paid leave policies, and create a pregnancy resource website to expand access to comprehensive reproductive health information. NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri is working closely with local champions to identify additional opportunities to increase St. Louis’s score in NIRH’s Local Reproductive Freedom Index, galvanize strong advocates in other Missouri municipalities, and grow the movement in support of reproductive freedom. In 2018, faced with a hostile anti-choice state legislature and governor, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri worked to build a base of support in key cities across the state to invigorate supporters and advance proactive policies that protect reproductive freedom on the local level. Following the successful passage of their Reproductive Health Nondiscrimination Ordinance in 2016, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri worked with NIRH towards introduction and passage of proactive policies in multiple cities, including a clinic protection ordinance in St. Louis, paid leave in Columbia, and a reproductive health nondiscrimination ordinance in Kansas City, among others. With support from the National Institute, in 2011, the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Foundation launched investigations into CPCs in Columbia and St. Louis and published an investigative report on their findings.
