The Wyoming Department of Health is working to improve LARC reimbursement practices across a variety of settings, including in hospitals and FQHCs. After completing a cost analysis of Medicaid reimbursement policy changes that would make immediate postpartum LARC more financially feasible for providers, the Department of Health project team will work towards submission of a Medicaid State Plan Amendment to enact these policies. Additionally, the cost analysis will be used to demonstrate the need for reimbursement policy change among prominent private payers in Wyoming. Finally, the Department of Health will create a state-wide advisory task force to help inform best practices for the above policy decisions, and will advocate with private insurers to improve reimbursement rates for LARC.
