Our Partners in Hawaii
The Hawaii Maternal & Infant Health Collaborative (HMIHC) is working towards statewide systems change to ensure that all women have the option to access LARC in the inpatient hospital setting. This effort will especially benefit women in rural communities, , women with private insurance, and women who have limited access to care due to immigration or income status. HMIHC is advocating for private insurers to match the state’s Medicaid policy, which reimburses hospitals for immediate postpartum LARC placement, as well as working in hospitals across the state to build stakeholder support and cultivate provider-champions that will lead implementation at their health systems. NIRH provides additional support by offering technical assistance as needed, linking their work to state and national trends and best practices, and lifting up their successes and lessons learned to share with the field.
