Local partner

Southern Birth Justice Network (SBJN) is a community organization committed to providing accessible and quality holistic birth care to Black, indigenous, and people of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, low-income people, and other marginalized communities. To ensure greater access to doula care, which research shows plays a critical role in reducing infant and maternal mortality, SBJN is partnering with NIRH to secure local funding in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. This funding will cover the doula services provided by SBJN for low-income women.

In 2012, MI LOLA (Miami) hosted “A Community Conversation on Women’s Reproductive Health,” a roundtable for activists, academics, students, and health care providers. The event focused on the role of religion, health policy, and providers in abortion access, with an emphasis on the barriers faced by Latinas.
