Because proactive change is truly possible on the local level, the National Institute partners with organizations working in cities and counties to strengthen partnerships with policymakers, build community support, and advance local policy solutions to reproductive health issues.

With National Institute support, the Teen Pregnancy & Prevention Partnership hosted a policymaker roundtable in 2010 to address high rates of teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections, and reproductive health disparities in St. Louis.

With support from the National Institute, in 2011, the NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri Foundation launched investigations into CPCs in Columbia and St. Louis and published an investigative report on their findings.

With support from the National Institute, in 2013, Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region convened a reproductive health and justice roundtable to develop the Black Women's Reproductive Justice Network, a coalition of key local advocates and grasstops leaders devoted to protecting and promoting reproductive justice for women of color in St. Louis.

In 2014, the National Institute supported Faith Aloud in engaging and training women of color from faith communities in various components of civic engagement for reproductive justice in their communities. This training included opportunities to engage with the Faith Aloud constituency, build relationships with local policymakers, and develop leadership skills. The coalition focused on access to sex ed and teen pregnancy in St. Louis and racial justice, particularly police violence toward people of color.
