REPORTS TO: Development Officer
HOURS: 10 – 12 hours per week, flexible scheduling Monday-Friday between 10:00am and 6:00pm

National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund is a 501(c)4 organization, with an affiliated political action committee, which engages in legislative and policy advocacy and electoral strategy to protect reproductive choice in New York State. NIRHAF provides support to pro-choice elected officials working to pass proactive, pro-choice legislation and defeat anti-choice initiatives. NIRHAF works to elect pro-choice officials and hold them accountable to our mission.
NIRHAF ‘s sister organization, the National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH), is a 501(c)3 organization that develops and implements innovative and proactive approaches to protecting and expanding access to the full range of reproductive health care information and services for women in states and municipalities across the country. NIRH seeks to remove barriers to reproductive health services and assist reproductive health and community-based organizations to confront those barriers that are national in significance, yet are best addressed through locally managed initiatives.
SUMMARY:
The only way the National Institute for Reproductive Health and the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund can do its work is with money! Development interns will gain insight into every aspect of the organization: assisting with event planning including cultivation and stewardship events; preparing mail; developing donor communications around media; and researching the background and giving potential of major donors.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The intern will assist with all aspects fundraising, including donor research, data base entry, and coordinating mailings
  • Assist with cultivation and fundraising events, including pre-event preparation, tracking RSVPs, and troubleshooting on the day of the event. .

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A strong interest in fundraising and event planning
  • MS Office computer skills
  • Outgoing personality and willingness to pitch in where needed
  • Strong personal commitment to a woman’s right to choose

COMPENSATION: A monthly MetroCard and stipend will be provided
