Women with a Vision (WWAV) (New Orleans, LA) convened leaders in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans, and Shreveport for a series of four community-focused Reproductive Justice Roundtables. Drawing on the conversations and needs addressed within each meeting, WWAV hosted a statewide roundtable in New Orleans with a focus on Black women and girls’ reproductive health needs and rights across the state. Community members and experts in the field joined in addressing the intersection between education, criminal justice, economic freedom, healthcare and voting rights and reproductive justice and began to craft a policy agenda for 2017. As a direct result of the community roundtables, WWAV planned its first Black Women’s Legislative Day at the Capitol in April 2017.
