In 2016, Whole Woman’s Health Alliance (Minnesota) and the Abortion Care Network formed a coalition of providers and key allies in Minnesota to review Medicaid reimbursement policies over a three-part roundtable. A survey administered to five independent providers in Minnesota revealed that Medicaid reimbursement rates and timing put an even bigger financial strain than anticipated on providers’ ability to offer abortions after twelve weeks. They are now using this information to reshape their strategic plan to deal with the shifting political climate and to engage the Department of Human Services and the Governor’s office.
