In 2017, Lilith Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice Texas, Texas Equal Access (TEA) Fund, & West Fund continued their coordinated effort to implement a cohesive, multi-city strategy to advance abortion access and build grassroots power on the local level. They expanded their #ReproPowerTX Campaign, which puts forth local proactive policy agendas for reproductive freedom grounded in research and community input, by launching a policy agenda in El Paso and hosted Local Repro Days of Action in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, and Houston to center the stories of people who have had abortions. Lilith Fund and NARAL Pro-Choice Texas (Houston, TX) continued to build on the success of their 2015 National Institute supported roundtable on abortion access and advocacy with the launch of a comprehensive reproductive rights agenda, #ReproPowerHouston, with an adjoining website at www.ReproPowerTx.org. The website’s launch drew support from local activists and elected officials. These two partners will now work towards passage of one of the policies listed in the agenda. In 2015, the Lilith Fund partnered with NARAL Pro-Choice Texas Foundation to build support among local elected officials, grasstop leaders, and other stakeholders to protect abortion access in Houston. Together, the two organizations hosted a summit for over 40 local elected officials and key stakeholders, with planning guidance and presentations from National Institute staff, to develop culturally competent strategies to protect abortion access in Houston and across the state. The two organizations also developed an online “Know Your Rights” campaign centered around www.needabortion.org, an online resource explaining Texas’s abortion restrictions and how to access abortion in Texas.
