“Scroll through the titles and subtitles of recent books, and you will read that women have become ‘The Richer Sex,’ that ‘The Rise of Women Has Turned Men Into Boys,’ and that we may even be seeing ‘The End of Men.’ Several of the authors of these books posit that we are on the verge of a ‘new majority of female breadwinners,'” where middle-class wives lord over their husbands while demoralized single men ‘take refuge in perpetual adolescence.'”
The following was a quote my expository writing teacher read out loud to my class a few weeks ago which was published in a newspaper. Once he began reading, I was captivated. I realized that for once something good has been brought to the attention of society and females are being given the adulation they deserve. Working at TORCH has made me realize that I want my future career to revolve around reproductive health. If possible, I would like to major in “Women’s Studies.” A health clinic coordinator? A reproductive health counselor? I’m not entirely sure yet, but I’m thankful for being given the opportunity to gain knowledge of how us females have been oppressed throughout history and still remain.
