How We Partner
The National Institute believes that we have an opportunity and an obligation to support the national movement to advance reproductive health, rights, and justice by engaging in partnerships that embrace the expertise of those working in communities, cities, and states across the country and create meaningful opportunities for building the capacity of those advocates.
A core element of the National Institute's mission is to build a national network of local and state advocates and policymakers, as well as individuals, to work together to create and promote policy solutions and innovating programming to advance reproductive health.
The Institute has a long and proud history of supporting partners at the state and local levels, including collaborative efforts with municipal-level advocates and leaders in 33 cities and state-level partnerships in 28 states.
Through the Urban Initiative for Reproductive Health, launched in 2008, we are currently partnering with advocates in nine cities to protect access to abortion, promote medically accurate sexuality education, advance reproductive justice and increase capacity building. Our Strengthen Our States Initiative, which started in late 2012, has worked with 21 organizations in 17 states to help advance statewide reproductive rights advocacy strategies and launch winning campaigns to counter defeat anti-choice bills.
